
The Colorado Democratic Party State Assembly is where Democrats from across the state come together to help determine which candidates earn ballot access for the 2026 primary election — including U.S. Senate and statewide offices. Serving as a delegate is one of the most direct and meaningful ways to participate in the Democratic process.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, elected delegates will vote on whether candidates qualify for the Democratic primary ballot. In most contests, candidates must earn at least 30% of delegate support at the State Assembly to secure ballot access through the assembly route.
1) Attend your local Democratic caucus
Caucus is your entry point. You must be a registered Democrat and show up to participate. At caucus, you can volunteer or be nominated to serve as a delegate to the next level.
2) Get elected as a delegate
Caucus attendees elect delegates to advance to their county or district assembly. From there, additional delegates are elected to represent their communities at the State Assembly.
